2024 Mercedes EQS SUV

Safety

To allow off-road and deep snow capability, Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the Wagoneer S. But it costs extra on the EQS SUV.

Both the Wagoneer S and the EQS SUV have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

Warranty

Jeep’s powertrain warranty covers the Wagoneer S 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Mercedes covers the EQS SUV. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the EQS SUV ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

Jeep pays for scheduled maintenance on the Wagoneer S for 2 years and unlimited miles. Jeep will pay for tire rotations, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance (up to 2 visits). Mercedes doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the EQS SUV.

There are over 6 times as many Jeep dealers as there are Mercedes dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Wagoneer S’ warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jeep vehicles are better in initial quality than Mercedes vehicles. With 6 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Jeep higher than Mercedes.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Jeep vehicles are more reliable than Mercedes With 28 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Jeep higher than Mercedes.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Jeep vehicles are more reliable than Mercedes vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Jeep 3 places higher in reliability than Mercedes.

Engine

The Wagoneer S’ electric motors produces 245 more horsepower (600 vs. 355) and 198 lbs.-ft. more torque (617 vs. 419) than the EQS SUV 450+’s standard electric motor. The Wagoneer S’ electric motors produces 245 more horsepower (600 vs. 355) and 27 lbs.-ft. more torque (617 vs. 590) than the EQS SUV 450 4MATIC’s standard electric motors. The Wagoneer S’ electric motors produces 64 more horsepower (600 vs. 536) than the EQS SUV 580 4MATIC’s standard electric motors.

Tires and Wheels

The Wagoneer S has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The EQS SUV doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Chassis

The Jeep Wagoneer S may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 350 to 600 pounds less than the Mercedes EQS SUV.

The Wagoneer S is 9.4 inches shorter than the EQS SUV, making the Wagoneer S easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Cargo Capacity

The Wagoneer S 4dr Sport Utility has a much larger cargo volume than the EQS SUV with its rear seat up (30.6 vs. 22.7 cubic feet).

Towing

Trailer Sway Control is standard on the Wagoneer S, using the Electronic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. A trailer sway program costs extra on the EQS SUV.

Ergonomics

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Wagoneer S has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the EQS SUV only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

Standard air conditioned seats in the front and rear seats keep the Wagoneer S’ passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The EQS SUV doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats for the second row.

The Wagoneer S has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the EQS SUV.
